I am having a hard time replicating a formula from AITable, one of the main reasons for this is because we do not have the API Panel (which made it BEYOND simple to build when working with the platform). Please incorporate this feature again.
The formula I am trying to re-create displays the url of the file in the database. For some reason I can’t replicate it in Bika.
You’re absolutely right, and sorry for the earlier confusion.
At the moment, Bika.ai doesn’t yet support formulas that can directly extract file URLs from file-type fields , like the one you mentioned from AITable.
For now, the only way to achieve a similar result is by using a script or API call, as shown in the resources shared above.
I’ve already passed this to our product and engineering teams for further review.
Really appreciate you flagging this so clearly, we’ll keep you posted once there’s an update.
Since Bika and AITable have different product characteristics, Bika does not have an API panel; therefore, it cannot be viewed directly through an API panel.
If you would like to obtain the file URL, you can follow the steps below:
– Open the API documentation and locate the List Records API endpoint
– Send a request using a third-party API tool (e.g., Postman). The file URL within the record will be returned in the API response
I appreciate your comment but I am not sure if that really needs to be said. Also as a technical user of AITable and Bika I can see a ton of things are the same…regardless of how different they are in the backend.
You guys say that this feature (API Panel) is coming so I am confused on your comment. You guys said Bika was supposed to be an improvement from AITable, if that is not the standard anymore then nonetheless it was a great feature.
I have figured this out, I was just more curious why we have to search when the information is already there and I am using that record. Your responses answers my question/assumption: You are not using V2 API here that is way the information is why less.
Sorry if my earlier message came across the wrong way, that wasn’t my intention. Bika.ai is currently more focused on AI and Agent features, while Automations and backend logic work very similarly to AITable. You clearly have strong technical experience with both platforms — really appreciate the time you took to share such detailed feedback.
Just to clarify, we haven’t officially announced an API Panel feature for Bika.ai.
When I mentioned sharing your feedback with the team, it was simply to ensure your use case is reviewed — not to suggest it’s already on the release plan.
Bika’s API was recently upgraded to V2, and some documentation updates are still in progress, sorry for the confusion that might have caused.
Thanks again for the thoughtful feedback, it’s always appreciated!
