When you announced Bika and gave AiTable LTD users access to it, I tried it and realized that Bika’s database capabilities fall far short of those in the AiTable datasheets. I have loved the datasheets in AiTable so much that I was really looking forward to having similar functionality in Bika. Even though you promised to continue maintaining AiTable, it makes me a bit nervous to have most of my company’s information on a platform that is no longer actively developed.
I decided to give Bika a few months before trying the platform again. However, when I attempted to create a database, I realized it hadn’t progressed much and is basically unusable compared to AiTable Datasheets. For example, records are added at the top of the database instead of the bottom; adding new records is more troublesome, (the fact that the + New record opens a pop-up and doesn’t allow adding multiple records at once from copied content); there are no fields at the bottom of the datasheet for performing mathematical operations on values; fields don’t resize properly; and the context menu doesn’t allow duplicating fields…
I know you’ve mentioned several times that your focus is more on AI and AI agents, which is understandable given the intense competition and hype in this field. However, it’s really disappointing that the core feature of AiTable, its datasheets incredible flexibility and power, seems to be lagging far behind in Bika.ai’s databases.
Right now it is not a product I can recommend as I recommended AiTable to everyone around me.
Hoping to achieve functional parity with the database sometime soon in the future.
@Aaron Thanks a lot for the detailed feedback! I really appreciate you taking the time to spell everything out so clearly. I’ve shared your full notes with the team.
You’re right that AITable and Bika are heading in different directions right now. AITable is stronger on the spreadsheet side, while Bika is more focused on agents and workflows. I completely understand why the differences feel frustrating when you’re used to how smooth Datasheets are.
We’ll keep working on closing that gap over time. And thanks again for giving Bika another try and for being so honest with your thoughts. It really means a lot to us.
Yes, me too, but I am a bit worried about storing all my company’s numbers on a platform that is not actively developed. What if there is a critical error in their infrastructure, and because the tool is not being actively maintained, it takes days for them to fix it? What reassurance does AiTable offer, @thea?
Hi @Aaron , while it’s true that AITable’s feature updates have slowed down, the product is still actively operated and monitored to ensure stable service.
